Awards and Recognition

On Wednesday March 18th, 2026, Stanhope Borough Patrol Officers Robert Popelka and Jordan Anderson were recognized for their actions taken during the OSCAR Animal Shelter fire in February. Both Officers were presented with a Unit Citation Award from the Hopatcong Police Department. Officer Popelka and Officer Anderson showed tremendous courage, acting swiftly in the face of extreme danger, during this incident. As with most critical incidents our officers encounter, they showed that their duty to protect the public goes beyond just the Borough of Stanhope and our residents. We commend all emergency service personnel who were recognized for their actions during this incident, but we are especially proud of our officers for their unwavering commitment to public safety.
